Lost pets
Having a pet go missing is heart-breaking, but there are steps you can take to increase the chances of a successful reunion with your dog, cat, rabbit, bird, turtle or other pet.

Athena It's essential to start the search immediately. And, since animals - especially adventurous dogs or cats - can hop into a car or truck without the driver's knowledge, consider broadening your search to other areas if you don't find your pet quickly. Even birds with clipped wings may be able to fly far enough to go missing.

We hope that you'll be reunited with your lost pet quickly. But if not, don't give up the search. Animal shelters report happy reunions after months or even a year!

Our Prevention page offers some suggestions for avoiding a lot of heartache for you and danger for the animal by keeping your precious pet safely at home.
